I'm going on the vietnam explorer trip leaving on the 15th of July and i was wondering about the hiking footwear.
I'm just wondering if hiking sandals will do the trick? Something like this; http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/Merrell-Chameleon-II-Web---SS06.html
I hill-walk and play rugby and am fairly fit. It's just i don't really want to be lugging around a pair of big boots so sandals (that can be easily crushed) seem ideal but i don't know if they're suitable.

Re: Vietnam Explorer Footwear
Hey there,
Thanks for the post.
Thoses looks spot on to me, however you are the one wearing them and so best to be 100% confident. That is why I personally would not buy them via the internet and would go to an outdoor bound shop, such as Millets.
All the best,
Robert
Re: Vietnam Explorer Footwear
Instead of posting a new thread i'll just chuck it in here.
I'm looking at backpacks and i'm wondering what litre capacity to get.
I borrowed a 60l + 15l bag when i did the west highland way and it seems a bit big to use as i'll be carrying it around and stuff.
I don't want to pack that much clothing as laundry can be done cheaply over there.
Would a 40L pack with a 15/20L daypack be best? Or should i just stick with the 60L+15L?
Re: Vietnam Explorer Footwear
Hey there,
Thanks for your post.
Again, stuff like this is completely up to you and if you are fine with a smaller bag no worries. Laundry services will be avaliable along the way so that is a bonus, but remember to leave room for things you buy along the way in your bag, and things being so cheap there, I imagine these will be plentiful!
All the best,
Robert
