Wilderness Adventure - too wild for me??

Hi, I'm considering booking the 17 Dec tour since a trip I booked with another operator got cancelled :0(
This tour is the perfect itinerary for me but is more basic than I had in mind. I have never backpacked/travelled and this is my first trip alone. I like the idea of getting a more grassroots experience but I'm concerned about taking public transport (can get claustrophobic - my other tour took private transport) and missing out on home comforts (bathrooms!) on the more remote parts of the trip.
If anyone has been on this tour or has an opinion about whether I could cope with this kind of trip, I would really appreciate the advice - call me a wimp if you like!
Thanks,
Cx

Hi Cora,

I can't comment on your situation specifically, but I can tell you that I just returned from my first overseas trip - part of which was spent in East Africa on an Overland tour. I had never camped before in my life, so the cold showers, pit toilets, and tents were kind of a shock to the system, but I survived [Wink] and I had a great time. It's actually fun giving up all the creature comforts, you just adjust and enjoy the experience.

As to the Public transport, Imaginative Traveller are always going to have your safety in mind first, you won't be crammed dangerously into a bus like sardines, so it really depends on how nervous Public transport makes you.

If you can cope with the Public Transport, I definately wouldn't miss out on the trip because of the facilities (or lack there of)...just think how much you'll enjoy that first shower when you get home (and then you'll wish you were back on holiday again)! [Big Grin]

Best of luck,
Kathryn

Go for it! I won this trip in a competition last year and I had an absolute ball. The prize I won was a trip for 2 and though I really wanted my mother to be the person to benefit from such an opportunity, I was initially concerned that it might be too rough and ready a 50 year old woman that has been used to very comfortable holidays.

However, I took the gamble and it paid off entirely! She did struggle a tiny bit on the first day of the trekking in the North but that was perhaps only because she wanted to be flying along at the top of the group with the 20-somethings who were properly equipped with walking boots whereas she was slipping around in a pair of worn-out old runners!

Apart from that, we both enjoyed the trip immensely so much so that I'm on the lookout for a similar trip this year.. The wilderness adventure offers so much activities, unusual types of accommodation and tasty meals that I'm afraid it'll be hard to match!

Again I say... GO FOR IT!! [Smile]
