I'm booked for this tour next April and i'm starting to plan ahead. I arrive in Istanbul 7.25 am Sat so I will have almost 2 days before the group first meets. I was planning on getting my bearings and doing a ferry ride on the Bosphorus on Saturday. Not sure about sunday. I'm guessing that the group would visit the Blue Mosque,Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace on the Monday. Is my guess OK?
Friends have told me that Anzac Cove predawn can be cold. I will probably have thermals on if that is the case. The trip dossier advises bringing a sleeping bag for the overnight train trip. Would a sleeping sheet + thermals be sufficient?

Re: 17 day Anzac Tour

Hi Wayne,

Thank you for your post.

The sleeping bag is just for the over night train so it's personal preference to be honest with you. As far as I am aware the trains are not heated which is why we recommend that you take a sleeping bag.

I am just checking for you what sites in Istanbul are included as part of the tour and I will let you know as soon as possible.

Hi Wayne, You won't be lost for things to do and Istanbul is a really friendly place to get around. If you have time check out the university grounds, the Grand Bazaar, and get a fresh fish roll from one of the boat men down on the Bosphorus. Gallata Tower is another goody, and try eating with the locals - it's a great experience. Enjoy!!Image Uploaded by ImageShack Toolbar

Re: 17 day Anzac Tour

I've just been reading my booking confirmation sheet and notice the Local Payment quoted in Euros. Would it be payable as an alternative in $US or the local currency. ( Would save getting eoros just for this purpose). thanks

Re: 17 day Anzac Tour

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for your question.

I'm happy to say that we can also accept this payment in Turkish Lira at the start of your tour (though not US$).

Your tour leader will advise you the exchange rate on arrival for the exact amount (which will be calculated that day) but you can also check this before you depart at www.xe.com.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Brendan
