I am wondering if anyone here has personal experience with this hotel - the reviews on tripadvisor are really bad, claiming there are druggies all over, and grul served for breakfast. Yuck.. I dont understand why IT would use a poorly rated dumpy hotel.

Hi there,
The hotel was chosen due to it's central location and cost as well as the fact that most of the other tour companies use it as their base.
Based on a few negative comments we are looking into alternative accomodations in Athens for next year.

We recently came back from the Athens to Istanbul tour (Sept 2007) and stayed at La Mirage during our stay in Athens. The reviews on tripadvisor are what they claim - this hotel is poor although the location to sites around the city is good. When we booked extra days with our travel agent for this hotel we requested a non-smoking room. However, when we booked in they informed us that there is no such thing as a non-smoking room. The rooms from this hotel are dingy, we can hear everything that goes on in other peoples rooms (eg. we heard everyone's wake-up call at all hours of the morning, and the bathrooms are cramped. If you plan to book extra accommodations, I would suggest paying a bit more and staying at a nicer place. The breakfast they provided at the hotel was passable but the smoke in the dining room was almost unbearable.
