Hi! I am very close to booking myself on the Best and West tour starting 8 Jul 06. I've just got a few concerns that I am hoping past travellers might be able to help with....
I know that it will be HOT this time of year but just how HOT (uncomfortable hot?) and what are the average temperatures like in the different regions? What is the accomodation like? I'm not fussy...just hoping that it is clean and maybe air conditioned?
Also, what is the best way to get from Istanbul to Ankara (where the tour starts)? Plane? Train?
I've always travelled solo and this would be my first time on a tour and would love to hear feedbak from anyone who has been on the Best of East and West trip or any other Turkey trips. Thank you very much in advance.
Cheers,
Sue

Re: Best of East and West (Turkey) and a few other things....
I was in Turkey all of June last year and didn't find it unbearably hot although you will be there a bit later. I can advise, though, that I travelled from Ankara to Istanbul by train overnight. It was very cheap for a 2-berth aircon compartment (even had a stocked minibar with contents free!). Plane would be fine too I am sure but the airport is not as close to Istanbul as is the train station. You can get there, though, for 6 euros in minibuses from Sultanahmet.
