I'm just wondering if anyone knows somewhere in the UK (preferably Scotland) where I could buy Islamic clothes? I know what the dress-code in Iran is and am aware that our tour leader will help us to buy appropriate clothing, but what about on arrival? I know the dossier suggests bringing a long coat to wear, but as this will be part of a round-the-world trip for me the last thing I want is a long overcoat filling up my rucksack! If I could get my hands on the hijab here in the UK it would make life much easier! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Re: Clothing in Iran?
OK....so this comes 7 months after the question but in case you still want to know or someone else stumbles on this thread.
I was born and lived in Iran for a while so in my opinion a *coat* is not necessarily what you want especially if you're travelling in the summer. If you're going in the winter it's wholely appropriate - you may even see Tehran covered in snow which is usually a surprise to Westerners who expect tumbleweed and desert!!!
If travelling in the summer you should try and find a thin cotton button up overall type thing in a dark and conservative colour e.g olive or black that covers your arms and neck and is at least thigh-length - not the easiest thing to find in UK but not impossible...try a conservative department store. You should also wear long trousers in public and close-toed shoes although the natives often don't in trendy parts of Tehran anyway!
If grannies can find head scarves so can you...that's all you need for your head as long as it will cover all your hair. You can choose a bolder coloured headscarf although you may want to get 2 - and wear a more conservative one when you arrive at the airport (the worst part of travelling to Iran is the airport).
Try not to worry too much about the scare stories and enjoy the country which would have so much to offer if only it could sort out its political nightmare.
