Hey Guys,
Im seriously considering the 'Turkey Explored' tour late this year, and an Egypt tour. Has anybody done tours back to back, and/or 'Turkey Explored'? Im a first time traveller and would hear personal accounts of Turkey.
Cheers!

Re: Hrmmm, what to do!

Hi Claire

I did Turkey Explored in Sept last year and it was great. I also did Beyond the Pyramids in Egypt before it with a 4 day break in between (due to tour start/finish dates).

Both tours were great and I'd recommend them to anyone. I was glad I did Egypt first as they are more conservative than Turkey and I think it would have been a bit of a shock. The girl I was rooming with in turkey was going to Egypt straight after and was complaining about the attention from the men in Turkey. I warned her that Egypt was worse but also how you dress makes it worse/better. The mere fact that you are a westerner will draw attention to yourself. How you dress/act will influence the amount of attention. Most of it is good natured and you can have a laugh, I was proposed to at least 4 times just walking down the street in Egypt. If it gets a bit uncomfortable you just need to be very firm in your no thankyous or go aways. As it was I found Turkey very relaxed after Egypt and did dress more westernised, ie singlet tops and shorts compared to covered shoulders and pants in Egypt. I also wore a bandana most of the time in Eygpt for several reasons. One, I have strawberry blonde hair which attracted attention, two, it felt like I was respecting the culture and three, it meant I didn't have to worry about doing my hair! I could just leave it wet in the morning and put the scarf on.

I hope you do one if not both countries as I thoroughly enjoyed myself in both and can't wait to go back. The food in Turkey is especially good!
