Hi, I am thinking about doing the Ancient Persia. I am a little bit nervous about it as I am from the US but if I can get my vacation approved I think I will go.
Here is my question- as a woman how do you know what to take in terms of clothes? Is baggy plus some sort of head scarf enough? I haven't been able to find any clothes stores catering to moslems in my area although I am sure they exist as I live in a major metropolitan area. Thanks!

Re: Iran- Persia in Depth
Dear Leslie,
If you look at the Iran section of our brochure you will see how our tour leader was dressed(the one in jeans ,white long shirt and a head scarf).Mainly long skirts(very long till your ankles) or trousers will be fine with any scarf covering your hair and a bagy long shirt. Also when you arrive, you can do shopping for clothing there.(but don't forget you need to be dressed approprate as soon as you get off the plane.)
Iran is amazing country with natural beauty and history. No need to tell how interesting to walk through and shop at the bazaars of Esfahan,Shiraz or Kerman.
So I hope you will book and I am sure you will enjoy your time in Iran

Hi Leslie,
I am new to the board, but can offer a bit of advice for you. Long pants are ok, but try to stay away from the jeans. Shirts need to be long sleeved and a scarf needs to cover all your hair. Once you get approval to go start thinking long, baggy and conservative. The beauty of light and medium weight cotton is that it can scrunch in your bags and come out with smile lines(not wrinkles). Linen is also durable, breathable and heavy enough to keep you warm when you need it. Practice wearing a scarf and wrapping it around your face before you leave, it will make you more comfortable when you get there. For some idea of clothing try an India store or start by calling some restaurants, they will enjoy helping you. Prepare for a wonderful time.
Good luck,
Catherine
