We are booked on Turkey Land and Sea in April 2007. I notice on the internet it says there is a new 2007 itinerary. Could you please tell us the differences from 2006 itinerary? Also what is included in Istanbul on the first day of the tour? We have a spare day before the tour starts and aren't sure what to plan for this day so that we get best use of our time. Many thanks : ) Sarah

Re: Turkey Land & Sea
Hi Sarah,
Yes! You are perfectly correct, a change has had to be made, but we hope it will for the better!
On day 7 we will no longer visit Termessos due to feedback from previous clients. It is replaced by Arykanda instead.
There is nothing planned for the first day of this tour it is purely an arrival day. You may meet up with your group later in the day but thats about it!
There is a morning walking tour of the old quarter of Istanbul on day 2. This is unlikely to cover the main sights such as the Aya Sophia or the Blue Mosque etc. It is just for half a day, the rest of the day is free for you to spend at your leisure.
I hope this answers your questions?
Cheerio,
Amy

Hi Sarah, It's a shame you don't have a week in Istanbul - it's a great place to visit and really friendly. Heaps of things to see and do, like have a fresh fish roll (serious! really nice) on the Bosphorus from one of the local fisho's down near rhe ferry terminal. You could check out the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Gallata Tower, or just go for a walk over the Gallata Bridge. All within a really easy walk, especially if you are staying in the Old City. Have a great time!![url=http://img118.imageshack.us/my.php?image=icon121nt7.gif]

Re: Turkey Land & Sea
hi there,
i did the turkey land & sea earlier this year.
if the only change in the 2007 itinery is on day 7 not going to termessos...then everything else would be pretty much the same...
on the day 2 walking tour in istanbul, you do get to visit the hagia spohia and the blue mosque.
so on your spare day you could check out the sights terry has said...grand bazaar, topkapi palace, gallata tower (10ytl to go up), and gallata bridge (where you can have one foot in asia and the other in europe!).
plus you could also:
*take a cruise along the bosphorus
*check out the spice bazaar (or also known as egyptian bazaar...misir carsisi)
*take a cruise to the princes' islands...buyukada is the largest and all islands don't allow motorised vehicles...apparently where the rich and famous of istanbul go for their summer holidays)
*dolmabahce palace
*taksim square
*suleymaniye mosque (dedicated to one of the greatest sultans in the ottoman empire)
*if you're into soccer, check out the galatasary and fenerbache stadiums (go galata, cimbom, cimbom)
*also the baklava and lokum (turkish delight) shops
if you need any more info, just send me a message.
you will have heaps of fun!
Re: Turkey Land & Sea
Thank you all for your help - plenty of ideas for things to do. Luckily we also have a full day free at the end of the tour - wish I could make it a week! We are staying at the tour hotel so think we will be hopefully in easy reach of everything.
