Hi,

I really want to go on this tour next year, but am a bit confused about the itinerary. The webpage Itinerary lists visits to Gallipoli and Cannakale, but the map shows that it bypasses both and goes straight back to Istanbul from Ephesus? Which one is right? (Hoping the map is wrong [Smile] )

Thanks,

Marty

Hi Melissa,

Apologies for the confusion, the maps are still being updated to match the changes for the new/amended itineraries. But the itinerary is correct.

Sorry again,
Marty

Hi,
This trip is wonderful! I took it last September and had the best trip ever. We had Bahar as our guide and she made the trip extra special! Turkey is so beautiful and the people are very friendly. Just watch out for the Carpet Salesmen in Istanbul! Have a great trip!

Thanks Carol - sounds like you loved the trip. I have a load of questions if you have time [Cool] - What was the train like (I took the sleeper train in Egypt and really enjoyed it)? What hotel did you stay at in Istanbul - how did you like the shopping there? We're thinking of staying on for a few days at the end of the tour to see a bit more of Istanbul and shop. How was the Gulet trip? And what was your favourite part of the tour? [Big Grin]

Thanks,

Re: Turkey Land and Sea itinerary

Melissa,
I'd be glad to answer your questions!

The overnight train was fun. It was the first time that I have ever slept on a train. I did use ear plugs so the train track noise didn't keep me awake. I wish that I had gone to the dining car for breakfast just for the experience. One of my group members had breakfast and said that he was glad he did as it was really fun and the service was top notch.

We stayed at the Hali Hotel in Istanbul (nice little hotel). It was a short walk to all the major sites.

I'm not a big shopper but did manage to spend some money in Istanbul and along the way. You tour guide can give you pointers on where to shop. I think it is a very good idea to spend a few days in Istanbul after your trip. I wish I had done that but my vacation time didn't allow me the extra days.

The Gulet trip was very relaxing and lots of fun. The weather was great for swimming, even in Sept. The food was good and the crew was very friendly.

I don't have a favorite part as the whole trip was such a great expericence. I must say that I did enjoy the Cappadocia are of Turkey a lot. The short hikes were very enjoyable.

I know you will have a very enjoyable trip!
