I've signed up for the Wild Turkey Adventure in July and have 8 days after it. I was thinking of flying to Dalaman then getting on a bus to Kas. I might stay there 4 days then go to Fethiye for 3 days then back to Istanbul for the final day. I know that the Wild Turkey tour goes to Kas and Fethiye and wonder if it is worth spending more time in each place. Would it be better to go somewhere else? Also, in August is the Grand Bazaar and other shopping areas open on Sunday in Istanbul? Please let me know what you think.

Re: Wild Turkey Adventure
Hello gml,
I have asked my colleague who has been on the tour for some input and here is the response.
Both places certainly merit more time than perhaps the tour allows, so it would be a good idea for you to go back to them after the tour. They are rather different in character so visiting one doesn't mean you need not visit the other. They both have their own attractions.
Kas is a small resort with great historical interest. Its attractive town centre has a rocky waterfront, with good beaches nearby. There are water sports available in the area, like canoeing, jet skiing, diving and paragliding, plus cavern diving. The harbour here is quite small, with fishing boats and daily boats for rent. Kas has never become as popular as some other resorts along the Turquoise Coast because of its small pebble beaches, but this has saved the town from over development. Still, there are plenty of restaurants & shops for visitors. Kas has a moderate amount of nightlife and many nice souvenir shops. There is a traditional market on Fridays. It's got a lovely little Roman amphitheatre, too, that I had to myself when I was there.
Fethiye is larger and somewhat busier. The town itself has a large harbour, and there are beautiful beach resorts, such as Oludeniz, which is considered the most beautiful beach in Turkey, nearby. Some people like to stay in Fethiye town, others in Hisaronu or Ovacik, because of the cooler weather. Sun worshippers will want to stay in Oludeniz. There is frequent transport between these centres, which are not that far apart, so you can stay in Fethiye and spend time in the others.
There are daily flights from Istanbul to Dalaman, which can either be booked in advance or you can do this locally, when in Turkey. There are frequent buses to Kas from Dalaman airport, so this journey will be a straightforward.
