Re: Wild Turkey Adventure - 8th August
I've just completed this tour and had a fantastic time. Be prepared for a lot of travelling - 3500km by mini coach and 500km on the overnight train. The pre departure booklet advises you to take a sleeping bag. I carted mine all the way round and at this time of year it's just not necessary. We all slept on the deck of the Gulet using the bedding provided and the only other place I can think of where a bag may have been used is the family stay in Minare. Again not needed. I would follow the advice of packing everything then taking half back out! A small day pack is essential and maybe even a smaller bag, big enough to take your camera and wallet. You will find euro loos wherever you stop and they will be spotlessly clean. All I can say is that you WILL have a fantastic time provided you go with the mind set that you are a traveller not a tourist. BTW watch out for the RAKI. It's lethal.
Have some fun with the locals. They will appreciate it. Their standard greeting is 'Hello. Where are you from?'. My responses ranged from 'I'm an Eskimo' to 'China', 'India', 'Mexico' - etc. I'm blonde haired and blue eyed! These responses were met with gales of laughter.
Have a great time. I wish I was going back with you - I can't say more than that!
