New Seven Wonders of Nature

Iconic Sights

The Official New7Wonders of Nature campaign, started in 2007, has finally made an initial declaration of its seven finalists.  The Swiss-based New7Wonders Foundation was established in 2001 to contribute to the protection of the world’s human-built and natural heritage and to foster respect for earth's diversity. The official results will be confirmed in early 2012 after voting results have been independently verified so the final line-up may yet still change.

The provisional line-up consists of the Amazon, Iguazu Falls, Halong Bay, Table Mountain, Jeju Island, Komodo and the Puerto Princesa Underground River.

With Imaginative Traveller you can travel to many of these provisional New7Wonders of Nature so why not get travelling and judge for yourself!

The Amazon

Wildebeest Migration

See the Amazon in Peru on numerous tours including Amazon & Incas or our 3 day extension, Amazon Experience, and in Ecuador with Ecuador Alive

Iguazu Falls

Wildebeest Migration

“Poor Niagara” Eleanor Roosevelt allegedly exclaimed on seeing these incredible series of waterfalls shared between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Many of our South American tours include a visit -try Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro or add on our falls extension Amazing Iguazu

Halong Bay

Wildebeest Migration

With more than 3000 spectacular limestone islands, World Heritage listed Halong Bay in Vietnam is one of the most visually stunning places in the world.  Take a relaxing cruise and stay overnight in this idyllic surrounding on our Vietnam South to North or Vietnam Encompassed

Table Mountain

Wildebeest Migration

The stunning Cape Peninsula in South Africa, begins at Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope and ends in the dramatic table-top mountain known as Table Mountain, majestically looking out over Cape Town, the ‘Mother City’. End an overland expedition there on a tour such as Vic Falls to Cape Town or enjoy South Africa in its own right following the famous Garden Route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town on Down the Garden Path

Some of the proposed finalists which didn’t make the cut and which you can visit as part of our tours are:

The Dead Sea

Float in this salty body of water in either Jordan on Jordan Insight or Israel on Secrets of Jerusalem – or both with Jordan & Israel!

The Galapagos Islands

Famous as one of the world’s most incredible wildlife destinations, you can take a short 5 day cruise on our Galapagos Escapade, a longer 10 day trip on our Complete Galapagos or combine it with the Amazon on the Ecuador mainland (and knock two potential Natural Wonders off at the same time!) on our Ecuador Wildlife Discovery

Kilimanjaro

Summit the highest peak in Africa in Tanzania – via either the popular Marangu Route on our Mt Kilimanjaro Trek or the scenic, little-used Rongai Route on our Mt Kilimanjaro Climb - Rongai
