Imaginative travellers would do well to consider Greece this year as a holiday destination where they can get good value for money.
According to a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, sunshine is on many Brits' vacation wish lists this year, particularly following last year's disappointing summer weather.
Ian Bradley commented that destinations such as Greece and Cyprus are likely to attract imaginative travellers this year due to their "relatively good value" and warm summer weather.
"People who maybe gave up on a foreign holiday last year are very keen to proceed with it this year," Mr Bradley said.
Other destinations imaginative travellers may find it wise to explore this summer include the Middle East and north Africa, he added.
Egypt could be a good destination to consider thanks to a more favourable exchange rate than at the same time last year, a report from the Post Office noted.
The group's annual Travel Services Holiday Money Report indicated that tourists may be able to receive nearly 14 per cent more Egyptian pounds for the same amount of British pounds exchanged during January 2009.
