Imaginative travellers are not doing all they can to make sure their holiday money is stretched to its full potential, a currency provider has reported.
Holidaymakers are "really missing a trick" when it comes to exchanging their money, said a spokesperson for Tesco Travel Money.
"Over a third of holidaymakers still head to their high street bank or travel agent and one in five use cash points abroad for the majority of their holiday spending money," the company explained.
However, research by the firm revealed that some 34 per cent of travellers hope to spend less money this year once they reach their destination, with an average budget of around £400 per week.
One way in which many people intend to do this is by taking "holiday essentials" such as food and drink with them in their suitcase to save on eating out costs in their foreign destination.
If imaginative explorers are looking for a holiday location that is easy on the wallet when they arrive, with an ice cream costing visitors around 50 cents (43 pence) and a main course at a restaurant priced at around 3, Slovakia could be a good choice, according to Mountain Paradise.
