Imaginative travellers looking for ideas for their next adventure holiday could try heading to Australia's outback.
According to the Northern Territory's tourism board, visitors to Uluru (Ayers Rock) will eventually be banned from climbing the spectacular 348-metre-high landmark.
However, as part of a new management plan that has been approved by Australia's environment minister Peter Garrett, this will only happen once the number of people scaling the rock declines to 20 per cent or the climb is no longer the main attraction of the sandstone natural wonder.
As a result, adventure-bound explorers who want to do this once-in-a-lifetime activity may have to act fast.
In addition, keen runners may be interested in the first ever Outback Marathon, which is set to take place from July 31st.
According to the tourism body, "there are very few sealed roads on the planned route so this marathon will push even experienced runners as much of the course will be dirt tracks and sands".
