An alternative mode of transport could be on the cards for adventure travellers heading to South Australia this year.
The region's tourism commission has recommended camel trekking as an "exciting" touring option for individuals who would like to delve deep into Flinders Ranges.
Pichi Richi Camel Tours has been highlighted by the operator as a company offering some of the best in such activities, which can range from half-hour trips to four-day expeditions.
The treks promise to take participants to "some of the oldest landscapes on earth", where they are likely to come across a variety of native creatures, including kangaroos, kookaburras and wallabies.
One of the tours on offer from the company is a two-day camel tour that rides through "awe-inspiring" scenery and provides views of the Spencer Gulf and "the vast salt expanse" of Lake Torrens.
Kami Ramini recently noted in Suite101 that a visit to Exmouth in Western Australia would be a worthwhile trip for imaginative travellers.
