Adventurous explorers hoping to do something a little different on their travels might want to consider volunteering in Kenya.
Daily Mail journalist Jane Bussman has documented her experiences taking part in such a scheme and found it to be a rewarding experience.
The travel writer first stopped off in Karunga, which she described as a "stunning rural area", where she helped out a school-building project.
She was joined at the initiative by former Big Brother housemates Liam McGough and Anthony Hutton.
The duo appeared to enjoy making their contribution and when surrounded by the children, McGough exclaimed: "They're just so lovely."
On her final day, Ms Bussman took control of a class of schoolchildren at the Monica Memorial Development Centre for Needy Children, where she ended her trip by receiving handshakes from 50 of the youngsters.
Kenya is an ideal destination for travellers wanting to go on a safari according to the Metro, which noted both camel back and mountain bike variations are available in the country.
