Adventure explorers wishing to see New Zealand on their own terms might want to consider doing so by car.
Writing for Suite101.com, Wendy Craig has recommended a venture along the Twin Coast Discovery Highway to those hoping to see the spectrum of attractions on offer in the country.
The route is a circular road that takes people from Auckland, up the coast to Northland, towards the tip of Cape Reinga and back down to the nation's largest city.
By heading in this direction, Ms Craig noted visitors will be able to take in a range of sights.
These include, "beautiful beaches", "bustling townships", "majestic forests" and areas of historical interest.
The reporter added that wineries and farmlands could be possible stop-offs along the way.
Jonathan Ray, writing for the Daily Mail, recently advised surf enthusiasts to make a journey to New Zealand as the Onetangi Beach is a particular favourite among adrenaline junkies.
