Global festivals could be ideal for travellers

Friday, March 12, 2010

Imaginative explorers hoping to make the most out of their small group holiday might be interested in a number of interesting festivals taking place around the world this year.

According to Bales Worldwide, music lovers visiting Africa should check out the inaugural Rift Valley Festival, which is taking place on the shores of Lake Naivasha from March 26th to 28th.

The spectacle is set to showcase artists from a wide range of backgrounds and genres in a location surrounded by mountains, national parks and acacia trees.

"In addition to enjoying an awesome event in a unique setting, festival goers will also be raising money to aid environmental improvement and community regeneration in Kenya," the firm stated.

Furthermore, travellers are encouraged to head to the Pii Mai Festival in Laos from April 13th to 16th.

The event is one of the most famous festivals in the country and includes a huge waterfight, which symbolises a spiritual spring clean.

Travellers to Laos should visit Vieng Xai and Phonsavan too, Lonely Planet suggests.
