Imaginative travellers could be heading to Egypt and Turkey next year if comments made by On the Beach are anything to go by.
According to the travel company, keen explorers booked trips in their droves over the Christmas break, perhaps wanting to leave behind the cold weather in search of hotter climates and it witnessed 35 per cent more enquiries than in 2008.
These two destinations proved particularly popular, its bookings revealed, with travellers wanting to head there for their summer holidays.
"Early indications also suggest that compared to 2009, the North African destinations of Tunisia and Morocco will welcome more British holidaymakers in 2010," the organisation stated.
And Alistair Daly, marketing director at the firm, said that this increase in bookings could be down to the fact that travellers want to take advantage of the end-of-year deals on offer.
The British Sub-Aqua Club recently suggested that Egypt could be perfect for adventure-bound imaginative explorers due to the plethora of diving opportunities in the country's Red Sea.
