In order to encourage people from Britain to choose somewhere new to go on holiday, one firm has put together a list of the best destinations in the world.
Add-ons firm Holiday Extras asked travel experts and celebrities to name their favourite places to go on holiday and to say why they enjoy them so much, with interesting results.
The top five places were the Namib Desert, Venice, Mexico, Atlanta and Rio de Janeiro and the list contains ideas for all kinds of groups, including families, adventure travellers and culture lovers.
Matthew Pack, spokesperson for Holiday Extras, said: "More than a quarter of us go back to the same place year after year. We hope to inspire [people] to step out of their comfort zone when choosing where to holiday in 2009."
Cape Town was recently voted Best World City in a poll carried out on readers of the Daily Telegraph, beating rivals such as San Francisco and Sydney.
