Imaginative travellers could find Costa Rica holidays appealing next year after the country was included in TravelMail's list of travel trends for 2010.
According to Sebastian Lander, writing in the Daily Mail's travel section, the Central American location is set to become popular among explorers hoping to immerse themselves in jungle and the surroundings that offer "fabulous" beaches and unique wildlife.
Laura Rendell-Dunn, press officer for Journey Latin America, told the publication that green visitors might also be interested in a trip to Costa Rica.
"The country's dedication to responsible tourism and the environment is appealing to many travellers who are concerned about their carbon footprint," she said.
Also included in the list were Egypt, Tunisia, Thailand, South Africa and Turkey – particularly Istanbul, which is next year's European Capital of Culture.
Lonely Planet advises imaginative explorers heading to Costa Rica to check out Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Playa Conchal and the Parque Nacional Corcovado.
