Holiday tours to Tanzania could be perfect for imaginative explorers who want to combine relaxation on the beach with wildlife spotting on safari.
Writing for the Guardian, Nicola Iseard said that the east African country's Saadani Lodge is the only reserve in the region that is situated on the coast.
She explained that the facility consists of "15 tented cottages tucked among screw palms on the Indian Ocean, in the middle of the Saadani National Park".
In addition, Ms Iseard stated that the vast range of animals that inhabit the area include lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, baboons and hippos, making the safari drives spellbinding.
She added that travellers to the region can take advantage of the fantastic local cuisine, which includes jumbo prawns and "lip-smacking chocolate torte, apple crumble with mango puree [and] banana lassi".
Visitors to the country should head to Pemba, Zanzibar and the Ngorongoro Crater, Lonely Planet suggests.
