A new agreement intended to open up the skies over Tunisia could allow Britons to reach the country easily and more cheaply.
After a long period of negotiation, the Tunisian National Tourist Office has announced that the country has entered into the Open Skies agreement, which will allow carriers from the UK and Europe, as well as America, operate freely in its airspace.
Even though flights to Tunisia are already available from the UK, the new agreement will mean that budget airlines will also be able to go there, meaning cheaper prices for travellers.
A new airport, to be situated at Enfidha, will also be opened in late 2009 to meet increased passenger demand.
Tourism Tunisia recommends the resorts of Sousse, Monastir, Hammamet and Nabeul for sandy beaches and "crystalline water along with a dizzying choice of waterfront hotels".
However, fans of historical sites will b pleased to know that the country offers a number of ancient Roman, Arab, Berber and Phoenician ruins to explore.
