Imaginative travellers with an interest in marine life may wish to try their hand at diving in Egypt, according to the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC).
Alison Dando, marketing and membership manager at the organisation, commented that holidaymakers departing from the UK will find diving destinations in the Red Sea particularly appealing as the destination is just a few hours away by plane.
"Within that short period of time ... you are on beautiful aqua marine coral reefs with fantastic marine life, potentially in the larger pelagics you've got the sharks, you've got turtles and that's just five hours away," she commented.
Further afield, divers may also wish to consider destinations in the Indian Ocean, as well as Antarctica for a unique cold diving experience.
Research published last month by CV Travel indicated that Egypt is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination for British holidaymakers.
The study also noted a rise in popularity of niche holidays where imaginative travellers learn a new skill, participate in activities or experience the local culture.
