Adventure trips or small group holidays in India may have become more popular this year, following recent research by Skyscanner. The flight comparison service revealed that Delhi saw the biggest rise in the number of people searching for flights from the UK to any destination this month, with it moving up to number 36 in the list of Top 50 Flight Destinations since January. Commenting on the figures, Barry Smith, the company's co-founder and development director, said: "Delhi was the biggest winner, rising twelve places in the Skyscanner Top 50."
Imaginative explorers have been encouraged to sample the delights of India by heading off the beaten track and visiting Chandigarh. The Department of Tourism of Chandigarh Administration recently revealed that the number of foreign travellers going to the region surged from 32,074 in 2008 to 37,967 last year. It stated that it hopes to exceed these figures in 2010.
Couples looking for the perfect destination for their honeymoon have been given a number of tips by ABTA - The Travel Association. It was recently revealed by Kuoni that Sri Lanka featured in the top five most popular locations for a post-wedding holiday in 2010, which also included the Maldives, Thailand, UAE and the US. And spokesperson for ABTA - which represents more than 6,000 travel agencies and 850 tour operators in the UK - Frances Tuke commented that there are a number of reasons why the nation is so popular among newlyweds.
