Wine lovers looking to get off the beaten track may wish to consider exploring South Australia. This is according to Wine Enthusiast magazine's Joe Czerwinski, who hailed the region this week for its varied wines and laid-back vineyards. He explained that visitors to the Australian state should look beyond the big-name vineyards - such as Barossa and McLaren - and instead opt to discover smaller wineries. Mr Czerwinski wrote that this type of winery "may prove to be the future of Australian wine, a more comfortable, personal approach with stronger ties to land and lifestyle".
Imaginative explorers heading out on gap years or adventure holidays have been given a number of tips on how to stay safe on their trip and get the most out of the experience. According to recent research by Into the Blue, 61 per cent of respondents want to travel around the world or to Australia, Europe or South America in the next ten years. With demand so high for holidays to far-flung destinations, Cathy Goodyer, a spokesperson at Nomad, explained that there are a few things imaginative explorers can do to stay safe.
