Adventure bound travellers encouraged 'to try luxurious Orpheus Island'

Monday, November 23, 2009

Imaginative travellers looking for a tropical resort to visit for an adventure holiday have been advised to go to Orpheus Island in Australia's North Queensland.

According to Tourism Queensland, the luxurious island has plenty to offer, including clear blue waters in which explorers can go snorkelling and come into contact with some of the 1,100 species of fish and more than 100 giant clams that could reach lengths of up over one metre.

For those who simply want to relax, the tourist board explained that the island is ideal to sit and enjoy the sunset, surrounded by picturesque beaches and bays.

Chief executive officer of Tourism Queensland Anthony Hayes commented: "Tropical North Queensland as a destination that offers travellers the ultimate adventure experience within some of the greatest natural wonders of the world."

It was recently revealed by the tourist board that 703,000 people visited the region in the 12 months before June of this year.
