Eco-tourism tents opened in Adelaide

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Imaginative travellers who are interested in taking an eco-tourism break may wish to consider booking a holiday in Australia.

New accommodation has been opened in the South Australia destination of Adelaide that offers travellers the opportunity to spend the night in an eco-tent.

Situated just 20 minutes from the city centre, the Adelaide Shores Caravan Park has opened six new eco-tents on West Beach.

Each venue boasts electricity, a queen-sized bed, bunk beds, lighting and two deck areas complete with shade. They can sleep up to four people and they use reclaimed water and solar panels to ensure they are environmentally friendly.

"This new accommodation will provide both a greener and more cost-effective means of staying in South Australia," said the tourist board.

Adelaide contains some 29 different green parks for visitors to explore and relax in. The city's official website suggests hiring a paddleboat or a bike to make the most of the surroundings.
