The number of people heading out on European tours is set to increase this year, new research has suggested.
According to a study from Lloyds TSB Added Value Accounts, 35.6 million people are going to go abroad for their main holiday in 2010, with one-third of travellers blaming the recent cold weather in the UK for visiting sunnier locations.
It found that 60 per cent are going to go on a trip to Europe, while five per cent are planning on visiting Africa.
Furthermore, four per cent are hoping to head to Asia this year.
Many of those going to Europe may well be travelling to Spain, after Skyscanner showed that the country had four cities in its top ten most searched-for destinations in February.
Travel expert Jasmine Harman commented by giving holidaymakers some advice on how to prepare for their adventures.
"There is no need to over-pack with your holiday wardrobe. I once travelled to Thailand for three weeks with only hand luggage," she said.
