Adventurous travellers might want to put a trip to Egypt towards the top of their itineraries as the country has been named as a leading destination for ecotourism.
EarthCheck has pinpointed the region of Sharm El Sheikh as a key contributor to sustainable tourism.
The Four Seasons hotel, described as one of the most "luxurious" of the Red Sea resorts, gets special acknowledgement for its green contribution.
Manager Charlie Parker said he is keen to minimise the impact of resort operations.
Mr Parker commented: "Four seasons strives hard to involve its employees and guests in the common goal of preserving the planet."
Last year, the building reduced its energy consumption by 5 per cent and its water usage by 4 per cent, he added.
It was reported last week that a group from North Carolina trekked through Egypt as part of an African walking expedition - where they also cruised down the Nile.
