Imaginative explorers hoping to combine travel and adventure this year may want to consider heading to the Midi-Pyrenees region of France.
According to Solenne Odon, marketing, communication and press for Great Britain and Ireland at the Midi-Pyrenees Regional Tourism Committee, the region is perfect for those with a love of outdoor activities such as hiking as there is a multitude of natural walking sites in the nearby mountains and towns.
The area is situated in the south of the country, close to the Spanish border, and is the size of Belgium.
"We have a lot of history and the dialect, something really specific. Food and gastronomy is also available, we're one of the most famous regions for gastronomy," she added.
Furthermore, Ms Odon explained that visitors could head to Toulouse, the main city of the region, and see the winery area in the north or its market for the day.
