If beaches are an important factor when choosing a summer holiday destination, then Rhodes could be a safe bet.
The Greek destination has more Blue Flag awards than any other islands and claims to have the cleanest beaches in the European Union, according to a report from eTravel.com.
Some 33 beaches were awarded Blue Flags, which are an internationally-recognised status for environmental standards, cleanliness, amenities and safety.
"The Blue Flag Award is the highest a beach can achieve and currently 3,300 Blue Flag beaches around the world have this status," said eTravel.com.
In Rhodes, some of the beach destinations include Lardos, Faliraki and Ladiko.
Lardos is a small tree-lined village on the south-east coast of the island, near to Lindos Town. The local square in the town is sometimes home to local musicians entertaining passers-by with live music.
Greece came second worldwide for the number of Blue Flag beaches it has been awarded, claiming a total of 424.
