Imaginative travellers heading on a trip to the Hungarian capital may wish to head to Heroes' Square this weekend (May 30th to June 1st).
The National Gallop will see a hundred horses and jockeys compete for a 200,000 (£173,000) prize in Budapest's main historical square.
According to events guide website WhatsOnWhen, more than 300,000 spectators attend this annual event, watching the horses race around the grandstands in the Gallop Arena.
The race is approximately six furlongs and a nearby area on Andrassy Street is set aside for horse riding processions, cultural events, a fair, war games and horse exhibitions - at the Gallop Promenade.
Equine events date back in the history of Hungary from when the seven Magyar tribes arrived in the Carpathian basin and established themselves as horsemen, the site added.
The National Gallop is a celebration of the country's tradition and heritage and the races will be accompanied by shows and demonstrations telling the tales of the event's past.
