Sardinia could be ideal for secretive travellers

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Imaginative travellers looking for a relaxing and low-key getaway may be interested in a trip to Sardinia.

According to Just Sardinia, there are a number of hotels on the Italian island that could be perfect for those hoping to stay off the beaten track and immerse themselves in local culture.

Each of the buildings are in keeping with the traditional, regional architecture and serve typical Sardinian cuisine, it stated.

Such hotels include the Hotel Nascar, which is a "beautifully restored small-town hotel just 50 metres from the beach".

In addition, Hotel Valkarana is "situated in a stunning rural location on the shores of Lake Liscia" and is ideal for a relaxing holiday, the company said.

Furthermore S'acqua Sassa contains beautiful gardens and sits in the countryside, close to the Costa del Sud, "one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Sardinia".

Lonely Planet advises adventure-loving visitors to the island to go to the Diving Center Capo Galera close to Alghero.
