Imaginative travellers who want to head on a Europe tour this year may want to consider visiting Slovenia, following comments from its official tourist board.
It was recently revealed in research for First Rate Exchange Services Limited that 58 per cent of British adults are planning on going on holiday at some point in 2010, with countries in the eurozone set to be the most popular locations.
And Dimitrij Piciga, director at the Slovenian Tourist Board, explained that the nation could be one of the best spots for an adventure trip for people wanting to use the euro while away.
"It is a great destination. It has the Julian Alps, active holidays. Tourists also come to Ljubljana for a city break with culture and festivals," he said.
He added that adventure travellers should head to the Unesco-protected Postojna and Krizna Jama caves, hike in the Julian Alps or go cycling around the lake in "charming" Bled.
