Imaginative travellers have been told that Barcelona has something to offer for everyone by Barcelona Turisme.
The tourist board's head of foreign relations Maria Luisa Albacar-Fracanzani explained that Spain's capital has recently become a favourite of British explorers, with many taking advantage of low-cost airlines to reach the destination - consequently making it easier for travellers to budget.
She added there are a number of places in the city that are especially popular for visitors wanting to soak up the culture.
"The top five cultural hotspots in Barcelona are Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, Park Guell, Picasso Museum [and the] Miro Foundation," she said.
OnePoll recently revealed that Barcelona is the top destination in Europe for travellers within the continent.
A spokesperson for the market research site stated that it is perfect due to its weather, nightlife and architecture, while only being a short trip from Britain.
Madrid, Puerto Rico and Menorca also featured in the top 20.
