Imaginative travellers taking a summer holiday tour with the family may find there are lots of ways to save on spending once they arrive in their destination, one industry expert has said.
Self-catering can be a good way to manage a budget and save on eating out, advised Kate Kenward, director of the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO).
Taking a packed lunch when spending the day out can also be a good idea, she added.
"Heading for a day on the beach can mean high prices for sun loungers if you go to the most popular stretch of beach, so have a look around the area first," she continued.
According to a study carried out by the Post Office, children can cost families as much as £56 in beach buys during a summer holiday.
HireScores noted in May that 65 per cent of parents find it stressful trying to keep children entertained while on holiday.
