Nepal has seen a rise in the number of imaginative explorers heading to the country, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
Statistics released by the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport found that inbound flights during October have increased for the fifth successive month, with a 10.8 per cent growth - to 56,009 - compared to the same time last year.
The largest rise that has been noted is of travellers coming from Pakistan, as 177 per cent more visitors went to Nepal last month, while the number of British explorers finding the region an ideal place to take an adventure holiday increased by 4.3 per cent.
It is recommended by the tourist board that imaginative travellers who enjoy pushing mountaineering to its limit take advantage of the number of 8000-metre plus peaks that are available to climb and found in the Himalayas, including Mounts Everest, Kanchenjunga and Lhotse.
Those wanting to be different and steer clear of the mountain range can go trekking, white water rafting, canyoning and go on jungle safaris.
