Keen travellers over the age of 60 are increasingly trying to get away from Britain despite the impact of the recession, according to the World Travel Market.
Figures taken from a poll, which was commissioned in conjunction with the event, showed that 84 per cent of those that said that they will not let the current economic climate get in the way of trips that they plan to take in 2010, 84 per cent were over the age of 60.
Chairman of World Travel Market Fiona Jeffrey commented: "They [the over-60s] are fitter and more adventurous and are not prepared to let a recession spoil their fun."
Younger respondents were found to be more cautious, but despite this just 12 per cent of the 25 to 40 age bracket gave up their main summer holiday as a result of the credit crunch.
The World Travel Market takes place from today (November 9th) until Thursday (November 12th) at ExCel in London.
