People in search of a family adventure may like to consider Madeira in Portugal, as the destination has been recommended by a travel expert.
Sue Ockwell, spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said the island is great for individuals of all ages because of its cuisine and watersport activities.
The specialist was speaking in response to proposed plans from Jet2.com for low cost flights to the destination.
Ms Ockwell revealed that this could make Madeira ideal for budget family vacations.
She explained that the region is a "small rocky island in the sea opposite Porto Santo, so watersports are very important, whether it's fishing, waterskiing, sailing or messing around in boats there's a lot to do".
The food is "superb", she added, thanks to famed chefs on the island such as Benoit Sinthon and Albert Roux.
Jet2.com announced at the end of last year that it was to run budget flights from Manchester Airport to Madeira and the once-a-week service recently started.
