Finland has been described as a "bright and airy wonderland" in the summertime to holidaymakers considering taking a trip to the nation this season.
Chris Leadbeater took a trip to Helsinki for the city's midsummer celebrations and wrote about his Finnish adventures in the Daily Mail, advocating the height of summer as a great time to visit for the imaginative traveller.
"The abundance of natural light makes for a festival atmosphere, where the bars stay open late and there is a feel-good vibe among the residents," he writes.
"Even in early August, the daylight lingers for more than 16 glorious hours."
He explained that the night disappeared by three am and said that the Helsinki waterfront is a remarkable place to take a walk during these hours.
According to Visit Finland, the country has sparkling lakes and ample forests for holidaymakers to explore, while the nation's friendly folk are wonderfully accommodating hosts.
