The "diverse offerings" of Cape Town are sure to appeal to youth travellers, according to the chairman of a tourism group.
Gavin Eyre of the South Africa Youth Travel Confederation (SAYTC) asserted that the country is a "place of many possibilities", particularly the city of Cape Town and the Western Cape.
He said these two destinations are "sure to speak to the typical youth traveller".
The SAYTC, along with the South African Tourism Association and Cape Town Routes Unlimited, is working to raise the profile of the region among youth travellers following 2008 figures from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation suggesting that this age group is travelling in increasing numbers.
Responsible tourism is becoming a popular issue in the country, with many organisations - including Grootbos Private Nature Reserve - seeking certification from Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa, according to Travelwires.com.
