People who go on holiday without travel insurance and go on to cause an accident could find themselves in court, one expert has warned.
Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, said many people do not take this into consideration, thinking only about possible injuries to themselves when wondering whether or not to buy policies.
"It''s not just you. If you run into somebody else and break their leg you will be taken to court. You can be liable for anything," he stressed.
Research carried out by the same firm earlier this month showed that 13 per cent of those who have skied or snowboarded have done so while drunk.
Of these, 186,000 people said they had had an accident from doing so, with three per cent saying that it was a serious one.
James Furze of greenbee.com recently said that many people see travel insurance as a grudging purchase, but that taking this view is irresponsible.
