A trip to the Antarctic left one travel writer "overcome by the beauty of the landscape" as well as a newfound respect for the continent. Paul Oswell, writing for the Daily Mail, said that as soon as land came into view on his Antarctic cruise, he felt an "immediate urge to explore". Mr Oswell took a boat from Buenos Aires and "baby penguins curiously nudging [his] feet was an early expedition highlight", he said. While exploring the land, Mr Oswell headed out to Paradise Harbour where a school of minke whales was spotted among the ice cliffs and icebergs.
Adventure holidays are becoming more popular among people of all ages, not just the young backpacking generation and Antarctica is now well in reach for visitors, a travel expert has said. Imaginative explorers are able to set foot on the "breathtakingly beautiful" continent during the summer season of November to March, said Catrionna Grant, writing for Skyscanner. "An eternal magnet for explorers and researchers alike, Antarctica is one of the last great wildernesses on Earth," she continued, adding it was no longer a destination reserved for the brave.
Oman was named as having one of the best beaches in the world, in a list compiled by people who spend their lives by the ocean, it has been reported. Sifah Beach was chosen by marine biologist at the Sealife London Aquarium Dinusha de Sylva in the list of top ten beaches in the Guardian. "Growing up in Oman, I was spoilt for choice when it came to lovely beaches," said Ms de Sylva. "Not only is this one of the most beautiful I have ever seen but we always had an adventure getting there," she continued.
