Oman was named as having one of the best beaches in the world, in a list compiled by people who spend their lives by the ocean, it has been reported.
Sifah Beach was chosen by marine biologist at the Sealife London Aquarium Dinusha de Sylva in the list of top ten beaches in the Guardian.
"Growing up in Oman, I was spoilt for choice when it came to lovely beaches," said Ms de Sylva.
"Not only is this one of the most beautiful I have ever seen but we always had an adventure getting there," she continued.
Ms de Silva said she learned to dive in the pristine waters of the coastline and claims it was the reason she chose her choice of career as a marine biologist.
To get to Sifah Beach from Muscat, travellers must take a four-wheel drive vehicle and head out through the mountains to the coastline.
She advises taking a traditional fishing boat to one of the many coves to take advantage of a private beach with white sands.
According to Oman Tourism, the country has some 3,165 kilometres of coastline and is an excellent place to dive.
