A group of 14 students from Australia are finalising plans for a month-long trip to Borneo after 18 months of saving for their adventure.
The Chronicle reported that five schoolgirls from St Saviour's College and an additional nine from The Glennie School will spend their time in Borneo trekking though the jungle and working to repair a girl's dormitory and a local village's water system.
As their time in Borneo draws to an end, the pupils will embark on a three-day hike up Mount Kinabal, which has an altitude of 4,095 metres and is described as south-east Asia's highest climber-friendly peak.
"I think the hardest bit will be coping with the altitude of Kinabal," said student Teegan Murray, who will depart with her classmates on November 27th.
She added: "It's been a hard year-and-a-half preparing but I'm glad I stuck with it."
The students will return home on December 23rd.
