Iran has been described as a "top tourist spot"

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

The south-west Asian country of Iran is the "home of hospitality" and a "top tourist spot", a flight comparison site has said.

Known for its welcoming culture and excellent cuisine, the Middle Eastern nation "has a huge amount to offer the traveller", wrote Skyscanner.com.

With prices lower than a traditional European break, Iran provides holidaymakers with an exotic and cultured experience that is fairly easy on the pocket, the site said.

Visitors should take a trip to the "shimmering deserts" of Kavir-e-Lut and Dasht-e-Kavir and the "impressive" ruins of Persepolis, the site recommends.

"Unbeknown to many, Iran also has massive snow-covered mountains that offer excellent winter sports," it adds.

Iran Tourism suggests travellers should visit the Baharestan Square in Tehran - the location of Baharestan Palace which is one of the oldest buildings in the capital city. For the culture vultures, the National Museum of Art and the Negarestan garden of Fathali Shad are also situated close by.
