The number of Brits heading overseas in search of travel and adventure could be set to surge following comments from the Association of Independent Tour Operators (Aito).
It was recently revealed in a survey by the organisation, in conjunction with Wanderlust, that 83 per cent of respondents are planning on taking at least the same number of holidays this year as in the last - up from 77 per cent in May 2009.
And spokesperson for the body Ian Bradley agreed that "people are definitely travelling more".
He explained that reasons for this could include favourable exchange rates into foreign currencies and the desires of former staycationers to go on holiday to an overseas destination this year.
Furthermore, commenting on the locations likely to become most popular in 2010, Mr Bradley said: "The Middle East has good value with lots of hotels rooms to be sold [and] Europe is once again more attractive with the sterling/euro exchange rate becoming more encouraging."
